Development of FFX technology
The FFX roll forming caliber and roll configuration were developed using NAKATA’s original FEM analysis technology.
By employing our original forming method that we call “bend following”, FFX uses a movable roll whose caliber has an involute curve. Further, with computer controlled roll positioning, it is possible to produce a wide variety of steel pipes with different O.D. (O.D. ratio 1:3), thickness and steel grade without changing rolls.
Thus FFX can satisfy the many needs of our customers, with a line-up from an O.D. of 2″ to as far as a 26″ mill line.
Breaking the limits of cold roll forming
Development of ODF forming technology
ODF is a new forming method/equipment in which a great number of connected dies rotate on an endless track so the dies that make contact with the material being formed act as a huge forming roll.
With this forming method the slippage between the metal strip and the tool surface is eliminated and stable forming of pipes from ultra-thin/large diameter to thick and small pipes becomes possible.
Further, this forming method can be applied to the pipe manufacturing equipment of every forming process thus solving many different problems.

Development of RollBox technology
Roll Box is the result of a continous struggle in the common-use roll field, a forming machine employing common-use rolls to make square and rectangular hollow section pipes.
Roll Box consists of multiple horizontal and vertical alternative arranged 2-roll forming stands, on which each of them is equipped with a pair of specially designed rolls. Roll Box forming applies less strain on corner portion and then improves product quality. Moreover, all horizontal and vertical rolls are driven by motors so that the thrust force issue exsited in tradional reshaping mills has been solved perfectly.
